Privacy at OpinionWorld Business

Let's be clear: your personal information will only be used for the purpose of research and not for selling anything to you, nor for advertising purposes. OpinionWorld is published by SSI. This organization brings companies and governments from all across the world in touch with public opinion. SSI is independent and impartial and wishes to use OpinionWorld to enable dialogue. You can be assured that your privacy and the confidentiality of your information is our number one priority. SSI strives to conform to the European Society of Opinion and Marketing Research (ESOMAR) Codes and Guidelines for Survey Research, other privacy regulations and guidelines in the United States, Europe and abroad. All of the data that SSI collects during research is reported as aggregate information, that is, information about groups - not individuals. Individual information is never reviewed or published, as it is irrelevant to the research conducted by our clients. All individual information provided is held strictly confidential.

What kind of information we ask for and why

Information is an important part of the research process. It enables us to give a meaningful interpretation of the results of the surveys in which you will participate. OpinionWorld gathers personal information when you register to become a member of our panels, after registration we ask panel members to provide us with more personal information so that we may invite them to appropriate surveys. To become a panel member, we ask that you fill out a registration survey that gathers some personal information about your background and career experience. We ask for your email address so that we can send you email invitations to participate in our upcoming surveys. The other information we gather, such as your name, address, gender, birthday, and employment status, is for matching you with the appropriate market research projects. Your birthday is used to automatically update your age for us to target age-related market groups. We ask you for this information to invite you to take part in surveys that are relevant and interesting to you.

OpinionWorld subscribes to the most important rules of market research

Market research must always be carried out objectively and in accordance with established scientific principles. Market research must always conform to national and international legislation applicable in the countries, which are involved in any particular research project.

The rights of respondents

Respondents' co-operation is entirely voluntary at every stage of a market research project. SSI does not sell or transfer the personally identifiable information collected about the members of its panels. Information that is personally identifiable will only be transferred with your prior permission on a case-by-case basis. If you are a member of our panel, your information is stored in our database so we may call upon it to determine which people match up with specific research studies. If we think your profile makes you a potential candidate for a study, we will email you an invitation to make you aware of this opportunity.

If you choose to end your membership with OpinionWorld, please login to your account. In the left menu you can find the option "Unsubscribe".

By following the appropriate directions, your information will be deleted, and you will no longer receive communications from OpinionWorld or SSI. Email links are provided on the site so that you may contact us directly with any questions or concerns you may have. Each email we receive is read and responded to individually, please allow three to five business days for us to get back to you.

What security measures has OpinionWorld has taken to protect your personal details

OpinionWorld takes strict measures to ensure every aspect of your information is kept secure. We use the latest industry standards in our efforts to safeguard the integrity and confidentiality of your personal information through the use of a firewall and password protection systems. Our security and Privacy Policy are periodically reviewed and enhanced as necessary. Access to all personal information is restricted and limited to few key personnel. Your profile information is highly confidential and will be used only by OpinionWorld to email you concerning our studies, newsletters, winner notifications, and incentive redemptions.

Our site uses cookies on the registration and survey forms for technical purposes only. We do not store or retain your cookie information in any way following the entry of these forms. Cookies are used only temporarily during the time you are actively completing a survey or filling out the registration forms. You always have the option to disable cookies while registering or completing a survey without affecting your participation. The only information we maintain in our database is the information you supplied when filling out the registration form. Upon registering, your IP address is collected but is done so in aggregate, we do not associate a member with his/her IP address. No personally identifiable information is transmitted via this cookie.

Notification of changes


If there are ever any material changes in our privacy policy practices, you will be notified directly. We will take all possible measures to obtain your consent if the information we collect from you, the user, is going to be used in a different manner than stated at the time of registration. Any changes in our privacy statement will be posted 30 days prior to that change.

Third Party Relationships

Neither OpinionWorld nor SSI provides any personal information to third parties. All data collected is grouped together and analysed as a whole - in the aggregate. Your identity will never be attached to a specific piece of information or response, without your prior expressed consent. On the rare occasion that a client would like access to personal information, you will be contacted directly. And if you do not grant us permission, then you will not be included in that survey.

What else should you know about data protection


Please be aware that whenever you freely publish personal information online e.g. at discussion forums, by email or in chat rooms, this information can be gathered and used by others. In short, when you send personal information online in areas with public access you can receive unwanted messages. Finally you alone are responsible for the secrecy of your password and all your account information. Please always act carefully and responsibly online.
